Type office & tech symbols on any device
Windows
Alt + 0169 = ©, Alt + 0174 = ®, Alt + 0153 = ™. For check marks and others, type the hex then Alt + X in Word (e.g. 2713 for ✓). If Alt codes fail, see Alt codes not working.
Mac
⌥G = ©, ⌥R = ®, ⌥2 = ™. For check marks, the key symbols (⌘ ⌥ ⇧) and others, use the Character Viewer (Ctrl + Cmd + Space).
Word & Google Docs
Word AutoCorrect turns (c) into ©, (r) into ® and (tm) into ™. In Google Docs use Insert → Special characters.

Common questions
How do I type the copyright symbol (©)?
Windows: Alt + 0169. Mac: Option + G. In Word, type (c) and it autocorrects.
How do I type a check mark (✓)?
In Word type 2713 then Alt + X, use the Character Viewer on a Mac, or copy ✓ from above.
How do I type the trademark symbol (™)?
Windows: Alt + 0153. Mac: Option + 2. In Word, type (tm).
Why won’t my Alt code work?
Alt codes need the numeric keypad with Num Lock on. On laptops, use Word’s hex → Alt + X, or see Alt codes not working.
